When it comes to hardwood floor companies in Kansas City, you have a lot of choices. So how do you know which companies are good and which will disappoint you? Short answer…you don’t. That’s why at SVB Wood Floors, we recommend that you do your homework before hiring just any wood floor company.
One of the most important things to do is to ask questions. Ask how long they’ve been in business. Ask about processes, and products. Are they members of the NWFA (National Wood Flooring Association)? Read online reviews to see what previous customers have to say. Once you’ve ruled out any that didn’t live up to these tests, get a little more specific. Ask if they offer free, in-home consultations, dustless sanding, and a warranty on materials and workmanship. This will help you narrow down your choices and focus on companies with good track records and solid reputations for customer service.
Why Choose SVB Wood Floors?
There are many good reasons to choose SVB Wood Floors for your wood floor installation, refinishing, or repairs. We think the most important ones include our exclusive and unwavering internal processes, our trained craftsmen, and the fact that we use the highest quality products and the latest technology.
5-Step Wood Floor Installation Process
When it comes to staining and sealing our floors, we use an exclusive 5-step wood staining and floor finishing process for every installation:
1. Homeowner Preparation
We take great care to make sure we leave your home in perfect condition. This requires the furniture, drapery, and anything hanging on the walls to be removed by the homeowner before the floor is installed.
2. Sub-Floor Preparation
Before we begin our process, we inspect the floor to find squeaks, low spots, and uneven seams then fix them by tightening from the sub-floor below and sanding planks to an even plane. This creates the perfect surface for your new floor.
3. Dustless Sanding
Then we sand your floor, but our sanding is dust-free. Dustless sanding is a customer favorite. We use the BONA atomic dust containment system® which extracts 99% of dust into a sealed tube which is then carried to our trailer outside. There is no dust in your ductwork and no dust to ruin a perfect finish. It’s environmentally friendly too.
4. Custom Staining
With our custom color process, we can create the exact color you choose for your wood floors. We test it on your floor so you can see it before we apply it. Once you are happy with the color, we apply the stain to the floor and install replacement base shoe for a completely professional look.
5. Three-Coat Finish
Once the stain is dry, we use three coats of an environmentally safe, commercial-grade, water-based, fast-drying topcoat. The first coat seals. The second and third coats build thickness for years of durability. We screen, buff, and vacuum between coats for the absolute best results. Your floors will look incredible.
Trained Wood Floor Craftsmen
At SVB Wood Floors, we take great pride in the work we do. Our installers aren’t just employees, they are craftsmen who have an eye for detail and a passion for perfection. The SVB team currently holds multiple certifications with the NWFA for installation, sanding and finishing, sales advising, environmental awareness, and craftsman degrees. We don’t subcontract our work. All of our trusted technicians are in-house, uniformed personnel. Because our crews are experienced, when it comes to customizing your wood floor, there’s nothing we can’t do. Make your wood floor unique by adding beautiful wood inlays, medallions, borders, and more. Whatever design you can dream up, we can make it a reality.
