ALLEGHENY MOUNTAIN HARDWOOD

Proper timber management

At SVB Wood Floors, we are very selective about the products we bring into our Kansas City showroom. Allegheny Mountain Hardwood Flooring is one of those rare partners whose values match our own: craftsmanship, sustainability, and long term performance.

Forest Management You Can Feel Good About

Hickman Lumber Company, was established in 1992 to manage private and corporate timberlands. Their experienced foresters now oversee more than 16,000 acres, working directly with landowners to create long range management plans that protect forest health and maximize long term value.

From Sawmill To Finished Flooring

What began in 1938 with founder Harry Hickman, a crosscut saw, and a team of horses has become a modern leader in Appalachian hardwood products and services. Their vertically integrated process allows them to control quality at every step. Logs are carefully selected, sawn, dried, and milled to strict standards that deliver stable, beautiful planks with distinctive grain patterns.

Sustainability In Every Step

Allegheny Mountain Hardwood is built on a “nothing wasted” philosophy. Every part of the log is used in a way that adds value.
  • Using 100% of their logs
  • Treetops in the forest protect saplings from deer
  • Bark is used by landscaping companies
  • Wood chips are made into FSC certified paper
  • Sawdust used as fuel to run the boiler for the dry kilns
  • Scraps of flooring used to heat homes

From Their Forest To Your Kansas City Home

Every project begins with carefully sourced Appalachian hardwood, responsibly harvested and milled to perfection. From there, our SVB design and installation team helps you choose the species, grade, width, texture, and finish that best complement your home’s architecture and interior design.
